How do I season and care for cast iron?
Wash with hot water and a little soap (modern soap is fine), dry it immediately and thoroughly, then rub a very thin layer of oil over it — that’s seasoning, and it builds a naturally non-stick surface over time. Never soak it or put it in the dishwasher. If it rusts or gets dull, scrub, dry, oil, and bake it to re-season.
