Wood actually has natural antibacterial properties, but it can’t go in the dishwasher, so most food-safety experts recommend a dishwasher-safe plastic board for raw chicken, meat, and fish. Use wood or bamboo for bread, produce, and ready-to-eat foods, and keep the two separate.
How do I care for a wood or bamboo cutting board?
