Silicone or cotton/fabric oven mitts — which is better?
Silicone mitts are waterproof (so steam and spills won’t soak through and scald you), wipe clean easily, and grip slick hot pans well — the modern favorite. Cotton/fabric mitts are softer, more flexible, and often cooler to hold, but they can soak up liquid and transfer heat if wet. Many silicone mitts have a cotton lining for the best of both.
