Yes — by forcing your dog to eat around ridges or forage for kibble, they turn a 10-second gulp into a 10-20 minute meal. That reduces gulping, gas, regurgitation, and the risk of bloat (a life-threatening emergency in deep-chested breeds), and adds mental stimulation.
Which type of slow feeder is best?
It depends on your dog. Maze bowls suit most dogs and dry kibble; stainless or ceramic are best for chewers and hygiene; lick mats work for wet food, yogurt, and anxiety; and snuffle mats add nose-work enrichment. Many owners rotate a couple to keep mealtimes interesting.
Are plastic slow feeders safe?
